In this interview, he talks about Yatango, a platform that allows users to build their on mobile plans and allows them to change it on a month to month basis to optimise their plan.

1. Describe Yatango to someone who hasn’t used it before

Yatango is a maverick consumer technology company that empowers consumers to get a better deal on lifestyle services via an integrated cloud-based social platform. We empower members with greater transparency, control, self-service, personalisation and social rewards.

Our aim is to create an ecosystem of services that will reward customers and empower them with real-time transparency, one-to-one personalisation, self-service and crowd sourced support.

2. What are some interesting facts about mobile plan usage?

What’s really interesting with Australian mobile usage is that people don’t actually use what they think they do on their plans. We know that on average 80% of mobile users could save money on their plans. Cap plans and Unlimited plans usually hide what your true usage is, making you pay for more than you actually need as a safety net. Yatango offers complete transparency over your usage and lets you only pay for what you need on your mobile. The average mobile consumer only uses 200 voice minutes, 100 SMS and 500MB of data a month.

That’s why Yatango offers a 30 day FREE trial to our members, to help them see what they really use each month on their mobile. We then recommend them the best plan to suit their needs after reviewing what they actually used during our free trial.

3. Who currently uses Yatango and why?

Yatango is a mass market application that appeals most to the affluent segment aged between 18-45 years old. Smart phone users who want to save money by only paying for what they actually need and want to take control of their spending and flexibility.

4. What are some of the challenges you have faced in bringing Yatango to life? How are you overcoming them?

The biggest challenge was finding the right investors who understood and believed in the vision of the business. Raising money in Australia on fair terms that allows you to scale internationally is the key challenge facing any entrepreneur. Other challenges include finding and hiring the right people as well as building a consumer brand in a competitive market off a low marketing spend.
