FLOOW2 goes “business park sharing”

There are numerous peer-to-peer collaborative economy services. However, there are also opportunities arising for companies and Floow2 is doing just that.

Sharing of company assets isn’t that new. Particular companies in the agricultural sector, have been buying production equipment together and have been using it when the other had no need of it, for decades. However, it’s the technology that now enables every company worldwide – from a construction company to a hospital – to share their assets with colleague companies in a safe, quick and easy way. Asset Sharing is particularly beneficial and effective at industrial areas, where many different kind of companies, with a diversity of assets are located close to each other.

FLOOW2 has developed a platform where companies can share their underutilized equipment, services, facilities and personnel locally amongst each other. Last month the first local sharing marketplace was launched at a business park in Zwolle, a city in The Netherlands. Ilse Sijtsema, the local business park manager is enthusiastic:

“I initiated this project because I believe in the Sharing Economy. Especially in the current economic situation, you have to tap into new business models.”

Local entrepreneurs are now able to be more efficient, social and sustainable by sharing their idling capacity:

“We bought an aerial platform last year. That device is actually standing idle the whole year. It has been used five or six times. Other companies at Hessenpoort probably have the same problem. They will need the aerial platform on occasionally basis as well, so we can better lend them ours.” – Willem Beukenkamp, local entrepreneur.

Local companies can realize additional turnover by sharing their assets mutually. Or they can lower their company costs through the temporary rental of capacity from neighbouring companies. This is sustainable as assets are used more efficiently but it also creates social cohesion:

“The sharing platform increases the social cohesion at our business park. It is no longer everyone for themselves, instead people are helping each other and thereby strengthen each other. – Ilse Sijtsema, business park manager.

In Zwolle, business-to-business sharing, contributes to a local, social resilient, and sustainable economy.
